While they may sound like they mean the same thing, search engine optimization is not like content optimization. The former is the process of improving the quantity and quality of traffic your website gets from search engines like Google.
There are three types of SEO. These are on-page SEO, off-page SEO, and technical SEO.
On-page SEO involves optimizing your site’s content, title tags, meta descriptions, and more. In contrast, off-page SEO takes place outside of your website; it involves strategies you implement outside your website to help improve its search engine rankings.
Lastly, technical SEO involves, well, technical work. It involves optimizing your website and server so spiders can crawl and index your site. This includes fixing your sitemaps, robot files, website structure, and URL structure and improving your website’s user experience. Technical SEO also involves optimizing your page speed and adding redirects where necessary.
